Its been a while since I’ve taught a beginner surf lesson, and this weekend was my first proper day back on the beach teaching some of my awesome novice surfers how to catch the waves of their life. It’s so nice to be back out in the fresh air and so rewarding to see everyone getting their first ever rides all the way to shore. There’s definitely something special about being a surf coach – and it’s weekends like this that I know I really do have one of the best jobs in the world.
Aside from coaching this weekend, I’ve been busy getting things ready for the ever encroaching Easter Holidays. I’ve got lots of new and exciting things happening at my Surf Academy (www.oneillsurfacademy.co.uk) with our new facility at Watergate. There’s still a long way to go before everything is ready to go, but Im looking forward to making some headway this week. I’ll be sure to keep you all updated with our progress! Im going to be spending some of my week ahead painting the new surf lounge, and arranging for local artist Toby Ray some amazing visual displays of his great work! Mixing it up with a few surf lessons, and no doubt plenty of surf time for myself in between!!
The sun is shining here in Cornwall and it’s really mild. Off come the uggs and back on with the flip flops I think!
