So, this coming weekend is the first British Longboard Union surfing contest of the year. I’ve not had a contest for a couple months now so I’m a little nervous, but I’m stoked to be able to go surf with all my longboarding friends. Im looking forward to a fun, surf filled weekend. In true fashion the surfing conditions look terrible on the long range forecast for the contest- it always seems to be at it’s worst every time there is a competition!
On Friday afternoon I’ll be packing up my van to head off to Woolacombe in North Devon with my friend Becky. Luckily I have a nice big van that we can comfortably fit all our surf gear in (and between us we have quite a few boards!)….and we can camp out in it too!! It’s about 2 and a half hours drive (or so google map tells me) to get from newquay to Woolacombe so we’ll be staying over on Friday night, checking out the heat draws for the weekend, having some nice food and (no doubt a beer or two) so that we can get plenty of practice surfing in on Saturday! I’ll be packing up my camping stove and plenty of hot choccie to get us through the weekend!!
Best of all I’ve just installed wordpress on my iPhone so I’ll be updating my blog whilst I’m there!
Today here in Cornwall it’s windy – very windy! I was hoping to be able to find somewhere to surf but it’s pretty stormy with a strong onshore wind and very mixed up conditions. I think I’d be lucky to find a wave in even the most sheltered of coves. The surf forecast is saying it’s going to get huuuuuuge over the coming day and tomorrow could be maxed out (wave and wind wise). I’m thankful I haven’t got any surf lessons running tomorrow!!! All this wild weather means I can crack on with some of my office work and get creative designing some new posters and flyers for my Surf Academy!
