This weekend is the second BLU event of the year, and this time it’s going to be held at Perranporth. I’m looking forward to competing, especially as the previous English Nationals has been postponed twice because of flat surf it’s been ages since I last had an event. It’s also been a while since I’ve had a surf which is slightly concerning. Stuck in a rut with of flat conditions followed by strong onshore winds and choppy seas there really hasn’t been any waves – needless to say I’m a little rusty!
It’s times like these that make me wholly envious of some of my surfing students who have been loving the small conditions!! When you’re learning to surf you get the biggest rush from even the smallest of waves and even on the windy days it’s been perfect for getting everyone their rides towards shore. It’s been great to be able to get some of my students who are surfing for their first times our back and riding gentle little green waves.
For the weekend ahead surf conditions are looking…..small…..however, that could all change. I have my fingers crossed for a couple of foot, clean waves, gentle offshore and sunshine…….I’m sure I will get a nice reality check! It’s a little way off yet and the conditions have been so changable lately Im sure we’ll have a much more detailed forecast i the days to come.
Wish me luck!
